Question: Can you buy a bride in India?

Bride-purchasing is common in the states of India such as Haryana, Jharkhand, and Punjab. According to CNN-IBN, women are “bought, sold, trafficked, raped and married off without consent” across certain parts of India. Bride-purchases are usually outsourced from Bihar, Assam, and West Bengal.

While bride trafficking is not explicitly prohibited in Indian law, it does criminalize many aspects of the practice in statutes. The Child Marriage Restraint Act 1929 provides the legal age of marriage is 21 for males and 18 for females.

How much does a decent wedding cost?

Couples in NSW were spending around $3,685 on wedding hire back in 2016. Now the average cost is a lot less at just $1,410.

What color not to wear to an Indian wedding?

Guests should try to avoid wearing red, since the bride typically wears red, explains Nilima Patel, owner of Crimson Bleu Events. Guests can wear any other color except for black. Its definitely not a color you should wear at an Indian wedding.
